Being there -- wherever you are -- and getting here is easy. Really! Of course, some people will need a little more help than others.

Driving DIRECTIONS and DISTANCES from MapQuest
from anywhere you are...to and from the Mendocino Coast
Just for the record, however, we are in northern California and we are on the coast. Since northern California may not be descriptive enough to some, we will try to narrow it down a bit:
Cypress Cove & Mendocino are:
- 150 miles north of San Francisco (3.5 hours)
- 285 miles west of Lake Tahoe (5 hours)
- 188 miles northwest of Sacramento (4 hours)
- 537 miles south of Portland, Oregon
- 440 miles south of Newport, Oregon (on the coast)
- about 225 to 250 miles from the Oregon border (5 hours?)
- a few thousand miles east of Tokyo (figure a day or two.. or longer if you're windsurfing) and
- a couple of inches east of the Pacific Ocean (how long does it take to inch forward?)
- ...and Cypress Cove is just a stone's throw from Mendocino
Does that help? Just in case, we will throw in a few fancy directions to follow. Of course, we assume you are driving... about the only way to get here from there... unless you are flying in with your private plane, but more on that later. We’ve selected a few starting points which you will recognize; you can match or adjust your own starting point to what is given here. Or... to find the distance from any point to the Mendocino Coast (or from anywhere to anywhere), take a look at a terrific website called "How Far Is It", developed by Darrell Kindred. Keep in mind that the distances are in miles AS THE CROW FLIES.
As Roy and Dale were fond of saying, "Happy Trails"!

Smart travelers check road conditions, especially in winter and stormy weather.
It doesn't happen often, but roads are sometimes closed, detours are in effect
and/or there are delays because of construction or repair.
Those same smart travelers call the California Transportation Department (CALTRANS)
for current road conditions throughout the state.
Call 800-427-7623 for the Highway Information Network,
punch in the highway route number(s) you'll be traveling, followed by the pound sign (#).
